PGI’s short courses in Columbus, OH on June 17

was a success

(St. Paul, Minn., June 19, 2008)   The PVC Geomembrane Institute (PGI) offered their popular “Constructing with GCLs and PVC Geomembranes,” on June 17, 2008 in Columbus, OH.  The course was presented by Timothy D. Stark, University of Illinios;  Chris Athanassopoulos, PE, CETCO;  Stuart Lange, Lange Containment and Bill Shehane, Seaman Corporation; Greg Scales, Demtech Services, Inc. and Jacque Dettman, TRI/Environmental. 

Participants gained a broad knowledge of what is required to properly design, specify and construct liner and/or cover systems with GCLs and PVC geomembranes.

The course, which was packed with participants also included discussion of the latest information on GCLs including hydraulic equivalence, specifications, testing, and installation. The PVC geomembrane information that was covered included:  manufacturing, formulation, fabrication, shipping, installation, long-term performance, interface strengths and slope stability, wedge welding, air channel testing of field PVC seams, and updated ASTM testing of PVC geomembranes. The PGI 1104 Specification and the associated ASTM testing was discussed for the use of PVC geomembranes in a variety of environmental applications.
